I put dried plums, from my aunt’s plum tree, in these scones, but any dried fruit will work. Try raisins, dried cranberries, pears or apples!
- 2 ¼ cups Whole Wheat Flour
- ¼ cup Brown Sugar
- 1 ½ teaspoons Baking Powder
- ½ teaspoon Baking Soda
- ¼ teaspoon Salt
- 1 Tablespoon Ground Ginger
- ½ cup Butter Powder
- 1 cup Milk
- ½ cup Dried Plums, chopped
- 1 Tablespoon Sugar, optional
Heat oven to 425℉. In a medium bowl mix flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, ginger an butter powder. Stir in milk until dough leaves side of bowl and forms a ball. Stir in plums.Drop by 10-12 large spoonfuls about 1 inch apart on greased baking sheet. Sprinkle with sugar, if desired.
Bake 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.
Great along side scrambled eggs!
MILK – Can you use powdered milk in this recipe? I sure did. I just mix up a large pitcher of it according to the directions on my package and keep it in the fridge. Then I add cup for cup the milk called in every recipe I cook. The powdered milk called for in this recipe should be added in its powdered form.
