Strawberry smoothies are one of life’s simple pleasures! Easy to make and always a delicious treat, my kids are always clamoring for smoothies. This week we opted to try them with freeze-dried strawberries…and I have to say, I think we’ll stick with our frozen berries. I’ve included our recipe for freeze-dried berry smoothies, in case you’d like to try it, but this is one place, where I wouldn’t recommend freeze-dried fruit. –Mellyn
- 2 cups water
- 6 Tablespoons nonfat dry milk powder**
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 4 cups frozen strawberries
- Add water, nonfat dry milk powder and sugar to blender. Blend until smooth.
- Add berries and blend again.
- Enjoy!
**To use fresh, just substitute 2 cups milk for water and milk powder.
For Freeze-dried Strawberry Smoothies:
- 2 cups water
- 1/4 cup nonfat dry powdered milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 1/2 Tablespoons sugar
- 1 1/2 cups freeze-dried strawberries
- 2 3/4 cups ice
- Add water, nonfat dry milk powder, vanilla and sugar to blender. Blend until smooth.
- Add berries and blend again.
- Add ice and pulse until big chunks are broken up.
- Enjoy!
